The real encounter with people gives us unexpected findings and insights. We discover what the children are like and how students with overseas experiences see Japanese schools compared to others. For the elementary school pupils, BEST provides an opportunity to interact with people of diverse cultural backgrounds and thereby avoid developing ungrounded timidity when communicating with foreigners, and also develop a sense for an international community.

Sample Activities
1) Native English and Japanese speakers from Sophia University will work with groups of 5-6 second graders to create cultural awareness. This year BEST is using the theme of Aichi Expo
2) Making musical instruments from recycled PET bottles to enhance enviromental awareness, a major theme at the Aichi Expo
3) Walk with the kids around the Bancho Elementary school and discuss about lives in nature
4) Making Origami and explain why it is essential to perserve this images in nature
5) Teach simple words associated with the enviroment;

The most important part of this project is working with the kids. Kids have so much more potential than any of us could ever imagine. It is our responsiblity as University students to help the children reach this potential
