As part of the Chiyoda Ward Sophia Alpha seeks to actively participate in the daily life of the local community. Through this project, FCC students can gain some insight into Japanese society. |

Once every semester we organize a cooking event with the elderly. Through the encounters with elderly people, we try to get an insight into the community in which our FCC campus is located. |

"One thing I sensed through the continious communication with elderly people at Bancho is at any time, people have the need to support one another." |

"When you are talking to an elder, it becomes clear that there are so many things we don't know or cannot do. I don't know how to sew a kimono, like some of them do, and I am not good at Japanese calligraphy. But sometimes elders cannot hear or walk well. The important thing is to share our knowledge and to help out each other with the things we cannot do." |
