Daiyon-Azuma Elementary School Teaching

What is DEST?

DEST is a teaching project which is in association with Daiyon-Azuma Elementary School in Sumida ward. In this project SOPHIA students (Exchange & Japanese degree students) will visit the elementary school and interact with the 6 graders.

What can we gain from DEST?

It offers precious time to both the pupils and university students. The pupils learn what the global society is and university students will learn the importance of contacting with people in local community, the reality of Japanese education and much more.

What exactly will we do in DEST?

The outline of the activity is as follows;

Activities: Picture games Word - association games Role - play games "Guess the smell" games Writing letters

General Information

Place: Daiyon Azuma Elementary School, 40 mins from Yotsuya. (10 mins walk from Omurai Station on Tobu Kameido Line) Date: Oct 24th, 31st, Nov 14th, 21st, 28th. (All on Tuesday, 5 times in total) Time: 13:35-14:20 Participants: 6 university students & 24 elementary pupils.
