SOPHIA alpha JApanese Tutoring

WANTED! ~ Japanese Tutors ~ JAT is seeking students who can teach Japanese.  If you are interested in the program, please contact us!

The JAT program is basically not a give and take says Mari; The Japanese students volunteer to teach their language, while the exchange students are not asked to do any teaching in return;

During fall semester 2005 JAT has made 20 pairs. We will be glad to help more students to make their study in Japan a positive experience and facilitate cross-cultural communication.

I am Naoko Hayashibe, the Director of Sophia alpha JAT project. As the Director of the project during the past years I have helped many students to learn Japanese. At first I thought that the session would be a "one way giving thing"; I would be simply teachingJapanese to a foreign student. However, gradually, I realized that I was wrong. I received much from each session. For example on muslim student helped to understand better Islam and get rid of some of my prejudices toward that religion. Moreover, seeing how diligent students are for studying Japanese, I felt really stimulated and encouraged to study more myself. If you join the JAT project, you will have opportunities to learn something new and open your eyes to aspects of the world you did not know.
